Geronimo

A hiatus, a title and a dilemma…

So here’s what’s happening. Fierce busy at work but have returned to the writing game again after a brief hiatus. It may not make sense but when you (meaning “I”) spend part – make that a lot – of the day reading, I can come on all Sisyphus (the punishment that is!) in an attempt to knuckle down again to re-reading “completed” work or producing new material. This unintentional break has motivated me though and it has been a productive weekend at the screen face! It’s true for Taidgh Lynch (http://ragingplanetfire.blogspot.ie/), ‘You’re writing even when you’re not.’

I’ve changed the title of my Red Deer story, inspired by a local story , to “Geronimo”. The name was acquired by U.S. army paratroopers in 1940 after a day spent watching the Indian chief in a film (Geronimo explanation). It struck me that my protagonist, Gerard, had a daring streak and couldn’t easily turn down a challenge, albeit in a self-preservation sense. So now Gerard is Gerard no more, but Geronimo!

Anyway, the story is coming together nicely so watch this space for developments.

A dilemma I currently face is whether to publish the story here or submit it and then publish on-line. A “proper” published link would be pretty cool. Wonder what Geronimo would do? Time to take a leap of faith…
